LifeLabs celebrates opening of expanded and relocated Lawson Heights Collection Centre

LifeLabs celebrated the expansion and relocation of the Lawson Heights collection centre by hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Honourable Gordon Wyant, Education Minister and MLA for Saskatoon Northwest, along with patients, employees, and community members.

“We are proud to support the residents of Lawson Heights,” said Elsa Cabral, Vice President of Logistics, Material Management, and Client Services at LifeLabs. “The growing population brings a greater need for health care services and resources; we are pleased to work towards making these services more accessible and efficient for all residents.”

Located in the Lawson Heights Mall in Saskatoon, the new LifeLabs collection centre is double the size of its previous location. The location will feature additional stations for blood collection to minimize wait times, a more spacious waiting room area, improved accessibility, increased parking options and is open seven days a week.

“Congratulations to LifeLabs on their beautiful new Lawson Heights location,” Education Minister Gordon Wyant said on behalf of Health Minister Jim Reiter. “They are a valued partner and play a vital role in helping improve patients’ access to high-quality, timely health care.”

“We are excited about the new location and expanded space of the LifeLabs’ Lawson Heights Mall location to help meet and improve access and service for the patients of Saskatoon who require Laboratory specimen collections,” said David McKinnon, Saskatchewan Health Authority Director for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in Saskatoon. “The facility is designed around a working environment for staff to deliver a truly patient-first experience.”

Staff at the collection centre will also be trained to use specialty developed protocols to serve patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder through the first-in-Canada Serving Patients with Autism program.

“Increasing the awareness of autism is important. What is even more critical is acceptance. Acceptance is doing something to offer help and support. Acceptance coupled with Action is the next step towards a truly inclusive and community driven society,” said Lynn Latta, Executive Director of Autism Services of Saskatoon. “LifeLabs has taken giant steps on these fronts with their Serving Customers with Autism program! Countless individuals and families living with autism will find this service incredibly helpful.”
