Immigration Diagnostic Test Panel

The Immigration Medical Exam (IME) is a standard government requirement for individuals applying for Canadian permanent residency, and for persons who plan to visit, study or work in Canada for more than six months.

Note: British Columbia introduced the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) program in 2022. Refugees eligible for the CUAET program are not required to pay for the immigration medical exam testing.

Prepare for your appointment

Please note: Prior to booking your LifeLabs® appointment you must have visited your local immigration panel physician.

Review the document checklist and bring all necessary documents to your appointment

  1. Medical requisition form (from panel physicians) or e-medical referral letter
  2. Personal Identification documents such as:
    • Passport or
    • Driver’s License or
    • Valid Provincial Health card (if applicable to you)
  3. Any health services-related paperwork indicating coverage based on the visitor, immigration, or refugee status, such as:
    • Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) Certificate of Eligibility
    • Refugee Protection Claimant Document (RPCD)
    • E-medical Referral Letter
    • Acknowledgement of Claim and Notice to Return for Interview Letter

Obtain test results

LifeLabs® will send your diagnostic test results to your immigration panel physician within 48 hours, who will submit these results to the Government of Canada to fulfill the requirement.
