Consistent with recommendations from provincial ministries of health that all non-essential health care services be delayed until after the COVID-19 pandemic, Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario) along with BC Cancer Colon Screening have decided to postpone fecal immunochemical testing (FIT) used for colorectal cancer screening. We have temporarily stopped giving out FIT kits in British Columbia and are asking customers to refrain from dropping off or picking up FIT kits from our patient service centres. We recommend that patients who have received a FIT kit recently and have not yet completed it, wait until after the pandemic to complete their FIT.
